Weekend Best Bets!

Whistler - This mountain has been pounded with 117cm in the past week and it’s still snowing! If you can get there, Whistler is definitely the pick this week.

Check out this video documenting the arrival of winter at Whistler.

Lake Louise - The Lake is planning to open all lifts this weekend so long as the avalanche crew can make the terrain safe to ride. With 25cm of fresh in the back bowls on top of the 100cm snow depth that’s there already, it’s shaping up to be a sweet weekend full of fresh turns. The Men’s World Cup Downhill will be on as well so feel free to give a cheer for Team Canada. In fact, if you say ‘Go Canada Go’ at the ticket counter this weekend your kids will ski for free!

Sunshine - The Standish chair opened at Sunshine this morning bringing the total lifts open to 8 (Standish, Jackrabbit, WaWa, Wolverine, Strawberry, Gondola & 2 magic carpets). They've also just announced the opening of Angel chair for this weekend. The storm this week brought in 40cms of fresh making Sunshine a good option for some turns.

(Update: Angel opening may be postponed due to the recent snowfall while the trail crew works to keep it safe for opening.)

Revelstoke - Revy is opening for a sneak peek this weekend before their official opening on December 3rd. Both the Stoke and the Ripper chairs will be open shuttling riders onto a 100cm base. Get 25% off your lift ticket by showing your season pass from other hills in Western Canada. Check the road conditions before you head out. Some highway sections were closed last week.

Fernie - It certainly sounds promising with a reported 98 cm in the past 7 days. Just be aware that they’re only opening Elk, Bear and the Mighty Moose Chairs for this preview weekend. And the base has been getting some rain in the past couple days. Check out Craig’s blog for some photos: http://www.redtree.com/far. Our advice, if you’re dying to hit Fernie this weekend, try to stay high up and ski Bear chair all day.
